Folk Art Fantasy By Amanda Murphy
Hi everyone! My name is Amanda Murphy. For those of you that might not know me, I'm BERNINA Quilting and Longarm Spokesperson, a fabric designer for Benartex's Contempo division, a pattern designer, teacher, and author with C&T Publishing.
Brewer invited me here today to talk about my fabric line that debuted at Market and just started shipping. It is called "Folk Art Fantasy" and is a modern take on folk art that I hope expresses the exuberance of the original art form.

A close-up look of Folk Art Fantasy printsI have 5 new patterns with this line.
First up is Folklore, the quilt that inspired the collection itself. I just couldn't get the idea of a medallion quilt out of my head when I was drawing the fabric! Folklore isn't as hard as it looks - there are no y-seams, the medallion pieces are large, and they don't even have to meet in the center because you cover up that part! A download code for SVG field for digital fabric cutters is included with the pattern.
Next we have Folk Garden, a set of three mini quilts that is really fun to make! This pattern is wonderful for teaching appliqué since the placement doesn't have to be exact. Again, an SVG download code is included and (Item# JABCAMD10291) a button pack from Just Another Button Company is also available.
Then, for something completely different, I used the blenders in this collection to "piece a village". Folk Art Lane is so fun to make - you can make just one row or all four!
Folk Art Flowers is a simple one block quilt that is easy to kit. It was so simple I want to make one out of all of my collections! I quilted it using motifs from my Traditional Feathers Quilting Collection (shipping very soon!) digitized for both longarm and embroidery machines.
And last but not least is All-Star. I always try to do a beginner or advanced beginner quilt. This one is made up of blocks pieced entirely in half-square triangles. Having three different sizes of this same block gives this quilt a distinctly modern look. This one is perfect for the quilter who has made a couple of projects and is looking for their next challenge
Well, that about wraps it up. Thanks for letting me share Folk Art Fantasy! Don't forget to share what you make on Instagram and tag me at @amandamurphydesign. Or join my Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/free.motion.quilting.idea.book/). I can't wait to see what you all make!
Happy Quilting!
Amanda
