Winter Games by Amanda Murphy
Hi everyone,
The Winter Olympics are just around the corner and so is the advent of some serious sewing entertainment! I love watching the athletes compete (having no athletic ability myself) and figure skating is my favorite. Since I designed a line called Winter Games for Contempo or Benartex in celebration of this year's Olympics, Brewer invited me back here to celebrate the advent of the games with all of you!
I have four patterns perfect for sewing this season. The first features appliqués of athletes and is called "Winter Sports". From my favorite figure skating to snowboarding and skiing, each of these blocks was so fun to make!
If you want to try it out I have a free pattern for this figure skating pillow on my website.
Next up is probably my favorite quilt this time round - "Slope". It is a less literal translation of skiers on a slope. It makes great use of the grey prints in the Winter games collection, while still featuring surprising pops of color. And it is my teenage son's favorite quilt I've ever made - it is hard to impress a teenager so the fact he noticed made me feel like I've really achieved something!
Next up is "Snowfall". It is a simple pieced block quilt that features favorite prints and an unusual border design.
And last, but not least, I designed "Fa La La Latte", which is a quick and easy project perfect for gifting to a friend or making to compliment your own winter decor. I especially love the runner made into a bed pillow on this one.
If you are looking for inspiring projects to bring customers into your stores this February I hope you'll consider some of these fun winter projects! And please join me in my Facebook Group, Quilting with Amanda Murphy, to share your work.
Happy quilting!
Amanda
P.S. As a side note, my Meadow Dance Panel, which was sold out immediately after BU this year, is back in stock! Brewer is carrying the panel, the guide, and the rulers. This makes a great class to do in your store so don't miss it!

Hey there! I know this is kind of off-topic, but I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest authoring a blog post or vice-versa? My blog goes over a lot of the same topics as yours, and I believe we could greatly benefit from each other. If you happen to be interested, feel free to shoot me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Great blog by the way!
