Cherry Guidry — My Little Sunshine
Hello, I hope you are enjoying the beginning of summer and getting a bit of sewing in during these warm days! I’m so happy to be back to share one of my favorite fabric collections, My Little Sunshine for Contempo Studio of Benartex, all about babies, with a fresh, happy palette, and sweet prints appealing to all. The inspiration for this line came from quite bed time with my babies and singing them to sleep to “My Little Sunshine”. Check out "Bailee", my new sweet elephant pattern and fabric panel from Benartex.
The collection features 28 prints including a panel of bibs, perfect for the young mom that may be interested in sewing, but not quite ready to give quilting a try, plus it offers tons of opportunity to embellish, play with quilting, perhaps test different battings or stabilizers, personalize, or even “chenille”.
You’ll find fun monkeys, little ducks, sweet animals and baby clothes, adorable elephants, hearts, words, and alphabets, with coordinating prints in traditional pink and blue, or grays if you prefer a more modern look… these are also a great addition to your color wall.
I’ve designed three coordinating applique patterns for My Little Sunshine:
Sweet Little One gives you the option to make a boy or a girl baby quilt, with simple shapes that can be fused or hand applique using the same easy layout for both quilts. The pattern includes yardage information for both color options, and like all my patterns, easy and full color instructions, full size layout diagrams, reversed templates for fusible applique, and are also available with the applique shapes SVG files for your favorite electronic cutter.
I love small work and enjoyed designing the miniature quilts in My Little Sunshine Minis, a set of three coordinating quilts perfect for the nursery, each measuring 18” x 23”, they would also work as standalone wall projects or make great pillows.
The third pattern is Bailee the elephant, great for baby or whimsical wall art for the home, with elegant applique shapes that can be easily fused or hand applique, and finishes at 36” x 47”. I made Bailee in three colorways and give fabric information for the three options in the supply list.
Duckies is the free pattern I designed using precuts, you just need a Pinwheel, a 5” x 5” pack, and a few more prints for background, borders, and binding.
My Little Sunshine arrives in stores in August and all the patterns will be available mid-July.
Here are some fabulous projects sewn with My Little Sunshine:
Penny from Quilts Illustrated made her Tool Tote:
Annie from By Annie made her Changing Station:
My friend Roberta used a Children’s Corner pattern to make their Frannie dress and Sharyn of Tuffet Source made the wonderful tuffet.

I would like to know where I can purchase the fabric for the Duckies quilt and bibs.
Thank you.
