Chenille-It Foxy Pillow

The fox is our favorite animal, so when we wanted to try the chenille-it technique for something other than binding, this beautiful creature was an easy choice!

-Gray Chenille Bias Strips CHBB-26 Chenille-It 5/8" Sew & Wash Binding - Gray

Supplies:

-Chenille Brush 7633A

-Thread - Mettler Silk Cotton Finish 50wt

- Temporary Adhesive Spray 505 Spray Adhesive

- Pillow Form - 65-ST1428 Soft Touch Pillow 14x28in

-Tracing Paper - 1048 Reynolds Freezer Paper

-Fabric Marker-7144 Nifty Notion Twin Water Erasable Marker

Step 1. Cutting

  • Cut out the front side and back side of pillow fabric.
  • Download the PDF pattern from Brewer Blog Website.
  • Trace a copy of the pattern on freezer paper and cut it out. Run an iron over the pattern when placed on right side of front pillow fabric.  The paper pattern should stick enough to be able to trace out easily without the paper moving.  Draw around the outside edge of cutout pattern with a removable marker.

Step 2. Sewing - Chenille-it up

  • Sew down the center of a piece of Black Chenille-it strip, long ways, outlining the traced pattern.
  • Add and sew the Chenille-it strips outlining the detail lines within the pattern design. Always sew the Chenille-it strips down the center, long ways.
  • Finish and sew the different color Chenille-it strips inside of the design. Sew the strips diagonally until the design is completely filled in.
  • Lightly spray the strips with water and use the Chenille Brush to fluff up the Chenille-it strips. The Chenille Brush easily separates the fabric fibers without damaging your fabric.  If any areas of the design need more fullness, add more chenille-it strips and repeat the fluffing.

Pillow – use 1” seam allowance.

  • Place the front and back fabrics, right sides together, and sew three of the outside edges.  Leave the four side open to slide in the pillow form.
  • Turn fabric right side out and press.
  • Slide the pillow form inside the pocket.
  • Fold over the unfinished edge and hand sew together.
