Amanda Murphy's Winter Games
Hi everyone,
My name is Amanda Murphy and I'm delighted to guest-post on Brewer's blog today. This time of year is always exciting in the quilt industry... new products, new projects, new collaborations, and big secrets get revealed. This year was no exception and I'm grateful to Brewer for the invitation to stop by and show some of my new products to those who might not have gotten to see them in person at Market.
My new line is called Winter Games, and it is based off of the Winter Olympics, which take place in South Korea in February. Think all things winter sports, including snow, hot chocolate, skates and skis... you get the picture.
The Winter Games portion of my booth.
It is shipping now so you all can be prepared, but the idea is that the prints are general enough that any remaining yardage can be sold off with modern winter and Christmas collections!
Some of you might have seen the feature quilt of the collection already. Winter Sports features many of the athletic drawings I did blown up into appliqué. (OF COURSE it includes SVG files so you can cut all of those accessories quickly and easily with a digital fabric cutter.) Doing just one block would make an awesome wall hangings, or do a few for a bed runner for the athletes in your life. I'm definitely going to be talking about appliquéing these blocks in my Facebook Group, Quilting with Amanda Murphy.
At Market I kept getting asked if I did any of these sports. I am totally uncoordinated so the answer was definitely not, but I can draw these sports so I'm thinking maybe that counts a little? I don't know... but that is what I'm telling myself.
There are three additional patterns that hadn't been shown before Market. "Slope" was definitely my surprise hit of the show. It really makes great use of all the grays in the collection and was my more modern rendition of skiers on the slopes. This is a great quilt for men and women alike.
Next up is "Snowfall". It is a simple pieced block quilt that features favorite prints and an unusual border design that is incorporated with the blocks.
And finally we have "Fa La La Latte". I wanted a quick and easy project people could do and give as gifts. It includes directions for four placemats and a runner that can also be finished into a pillow. It of course includes SVG files, but there are also files to enable you to "appliqué-in-the-hoop" on your embroidery machine if you so choose.
I hope you love Winter Games and want to wish you and your families a happy holiday season. And I'd just like to add that I so appreciate all the support I have gotten from you all in this industry over the years. It has enabled me to grow my business and keep sharing the projects, techniques, and artwork that I love.
Happy holidays and best wishes!
Amanda Murphy
P.S. For those of you who have asked, my collection Meadow Dance was sold out shortly after it was announced this summer. But, the entire collection, along with the Ruler Panel, is being reprinted, and will be back in the US by the end of November, so please place orders now if you are interested to ensure that you get some.
