Denim

Since about the 18th century, denim has been the fabric of Americans’ lives. Typically indigo in color, the versatility of the cloth, as well as its universal appeal has lead it to be one of the most pervasive fashion statements of all time. Blue jeans have changed as far as style and shape; however, the same basic combination of warp and weft threads remains unaltered.

Here at Brewer, we love denim in so many more ways than just pants. Due to the flexible nature of the material, denim is perfect for a wide range of DIY projects. We all have a set of jeans that are either worn out or no longer fit. Don’t throw them away though! Instead, try using the fabric to make a cute handmade purse or woven basket. You could recover an old seat cushion or even sew a denim quilt with a variety of shades of patches! Other ideas include incorporating denim into a lightshade or recycling the fabric to craft denim roses. The possibilities go on and on. Get inspired and look at our Pinterest board here.
