Stamps: More than just postage

This week’s blog post is all about stamps!  Yes, the same kind of stamps you put on your cards, letters and envelops to get your messages from Point A to Point B. But today, rather than focusing on a stamp’s postal purpose, we’d like to discuss stamps as their very own art form and design trend.

We’re not surprised that stamps are making a comeback in the design world.  Why?  Well, think about it for a second: When you go to the post office to purchase stamps, the postal worker gives you a choice, “Which stamp would you like today –floral, patriotic, holiday-themed or the ever-popular Mickey Mouse?”  Maybe you go for the logical Forever Stamp or maybe, just maybe, you step outside the box and go for the really creative-looking stamp.

In a way, stamps have become their own art form with all of the image choices available, allowing consumers to channel their personal aesthetic preferences.  Because of this, we think it is only natural for designers, sewers, and quilters to capitalize on that idea.  Hence, the evolved stamps trend we’re seeing in the marketplace!

Stamp designs are now being sewn into pillowcases, strategically placed and framed as art, or even incorporated in apparel.  And the end result is something beautiful that has not only depth and visual appeal, but also a nostalgic feel to it!  Below are images of some creative stamp designs that we love.
