Trend Watch: Parallel lines

When you think of parallel lines, what’s the first word that comes to your mind?   For some, it might be “simple” or “basic.” But for others, it could mean a whole new world of design potential.  And here at BREWER, we tend to agree with the latter!

Something that seems so basic – two or more lines that run along side each other – can actually create an extremely appealing and even high-end aesthetic.  In fashion, we see a striped tunic paired with a chunky belt.  Amazing combination!  In home décor, we see a bold, blocked table runner across a maple buffet.   Impressive!  You get the picture…

But what makes this so appealing from a design perspective is that parallel lines are easy to understand, yet so complex at the same time.  You can almost get lost gazing at them.  For some parallel line inspiration, please check out our latest Pinterest Board.  Happy crafting!

If there are two things we love, it’s t-shirts and quilts.  T-shirts tend to mark important events in our lives and many of us hold very sentimental feelings toward them. Put t-shirts and quilts together and….voila, an incredible pairing!

Have you heard the news?  Amanda Murphy, fabric designer and quilter extraordinaire, is releasing a new book this spring!  Modern Holiday features 18 holiday sewing projects for the modern quilter – everything from quilts, to stockings, decorations and more.  This is a must-have book for crafters!
