Hi there everyone - I hope you are having a wonderful spring! I'm thrilled to be here today guest-posting on Brewer's blog and telling you about my products hitting stores this month! (And announcing a little sale to boot!)
I was excited to design another modern holiday line - Nordic Holiday - for Contempo Studio for Benartex this year. This time I opted to go with a more wintry theme, so you can enjoy the projects you make for longer into the year. Like many of you, I am inspired by Scandinavian style. From the northern animals to stylized stars, I wanted these fabrics to have big impact, while straddling the line between a modern and traditional aesthetic.
I'm so excited because these fabrics are shipping to your local shop this month!
I have four patterns that go with this collection. The first is Nordic Row Sampler. It is a completely pieced row by row band sampler. I was so excited when all of my rows came out the same length on this one - without trimming. I know... it is the little things in life, right? This pattern is a full-color 16 page booklet - lots of diagrams to make things clear. Plus, there are directions for both an aqua and green version of the sampler.
Next up is Starry Night. I wanted to do something special with just the greens and blues in the collection. This is a pretty simple quilt that is easy to customize because it is built off of a variety of 12'' blocks. The stars are appliquéd and the piecing is simple. Plus, there are directions for placemats and a table runner! This pattern is a 12 page full-color booklet and comes with a download code for SVG files for those of you with digital fabric cutters.
I also reintroduced Starstruck, because it was PERFECT for this collection. Starstruck is a 2-1/2'' strip-friendly quilt that uses two background fabrics and is sooooo much fun to quilt. I used rulers to stitch a big diamond pattern in the stars. I then emphasized the secondary diamond design in the background by echo-quilting diamonds and filling in with loops. I quilted feathers in the remaining background areas. This was all stitched on my BERNINA Q 24 but you can also do it on a domestic machine - I did for years! (I have a video with tips for quilting feathers and lots of other things in my Facebook group. Please feel free to join in! If you are making projects with my fabric or if you are a shop offering kits with my fabric, this is a great place to post!)
And last but not least, I designed a few fun appliqué pillows/minis for you for quick projects/gifts. This pattern is called Northern Lights and it too comes with SVG files! I love to appliqué in Aurifil 28 wt. thread and my small Aurifil Appliqué Thread Collection worked perfectly (and affordably) for this.
Brewer and I have gotten together to offer you all 10 percent discount on these items for the month of April. I would love to see what you make so don't forget to post in my Facebook group or tag me on Instagram @amandamurphydesign. Getting to see what you all make is the best part of my job!
Thanks for letting me share and have a happy Nordic Holiday just a wee bit early!
